Carol joined SVHC in March 2020 as the Executive Director.
Carol is a Healthcare Executive with a successful 25-year track record as a business leader and innovator. She began her career as a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. Motivated to solve some of the complaints she was hearing from her fellow nurses, she became Director of Nursing at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA). She was responsible for all nursing services in a 220-bed skilled nursing facility where she became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She stayed in the geriatric field for 15 years, assuming roles as Director of Geriatrics and Executive Director of Programs for All-Inclusive Care for Elders at CHA Cambridge Hospital.
Carol continued her education in the health field and achieved a Master of Science in Health Administration from Simmons College. She also has the distinction of being a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Recruited by a former executive at Cambridge, Carol moved to New York City and spent 7 years with Brightpoint Health as Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer. During her time there, the organization first became a “FQHC look-a-like” and then became a full federally qualified health center. She was instrumental in helping them open 16 new clinics, and when she left, they were serving 70,000 patients.
Most recently, Carol has been consulting with FQHCs to improve quality and achieve sustainability in their clinical programs by working with community partners and referral sources. She also has extensive experience in developing and implementing strategies for integrating behavioral health and substance abuse programs. She is known for balancing quality and financial goals.
